I recently made a lemon curd cheesecake that I was very happy with. In fact, I’m planning to make it again soon. But lemons can be used at home for more than desserts and lemonade. It is actually a great cleaning agent around the home.
1. brighten whites in the laundry by adding 1/4 – 1/2 cup of lemon juice to the wash
2. add a teaspoon of lemon juice to dishwasher detergent to help cut grease
3. combine with olive oil (1 part equally) to create a polish for wood furnishings
4. neutralize pesky food odors from your hands by rubbing them with lemons
5. rub onto taps and let sit overnight to get rid of limescale on faucets

I’d never thought about using them for cleaning but I guess now I get why all the store-bought cleaners come in “lemon” scents! Ha!
