Putting up some holiday decor was on my list all of last week and I finally mustered up enough energy over the weekend to do it.
Now as much as I loathe faux flowers, I make an exception for Christmas trees. I think it might be because, growing up, it’s what we had year after year. In fact, I have never had a real tree for the holiday (is that sad?) I am this {} close to investing in a real tree. You know, the small ones you see at the super market (about 3′ tall), potted? But, until I make the jump… Last year I bought a mini faux tree on a whim and mini baubles and lights to decorate it with. The entire thing didn’t cost more than $10 to put together and brings in some holiday cheer without taking up too much space.

I put our decorations up over the weekend too! Our tree is also a fake, it’s ridiculously big (7ft tall) and our living room is a shoe box. Every year we put it up and tend to our injuries from spiky plastic branches and dust, we curse it and wish we had a real tree. It’s become too much of a tradition now to get a real one!

Your mini tree looks so cute 🙂
I always had a real tree while growing up so I’m impatiently waiting till they start selling them at a nearby supermarket (apparently it may take 1 or 2 weeks longer). But real or fake I really need a tree that it is at least a bit higher than me, which is not that difficult since I don’t even get to be 5ft tall! I need that because since I was a child, one of my favourite Christmas traditions was to lay down under the tree and read.

our tree is also fake. I love the idea of tromping through snow to find a real tree. But both my husband and I are allergic…I love how Christmas trees create anticipation for the Christmas season!

Aww, your tree looks really cute! I’m all about artificial trees as well only because you can use it year after year and don’t have to feel about throwing a tree away in January!

Love the jewel tone colours of the mini baubles you selected. So festive, yet fresh and fun!

No shame in fake trees! We had real ones for most of my childhood, and my mom switched to a small fake one when I hit high school. When I moved out for college I bought myself a $9.99 one-foot fake tree from CVS that came with a ton of decorations and lights. That’s what I’ve used ever since, although the past 2 years, J and I have gone out and bought a real 6-foot tree and let me tell you, we find pine needles for months afterwards!

How cuuute! We get a real tree every year for our living room from Home Depot sells it for approx. $30 (for 7′ to 9′ trees!!!) and love it … oh that reminds me I have to WATER it today …. {be right back} … wow, it was thirsty. For my bedroom, I looove the white snow covered faux tree. Wish I could add snow to our real tree 🙂

Faux trees are way less messier and easier to deal with in NY 🙂 We have a little pink tinsel tree which I’ve yet to take out but I hope to do that later this week. I’ve never had a real tree either. I like the smell but I wouldn’t want to deal with the cleanup.

I’ve always had a real tree and my family always have had a real tree. I can’t think of Christmas without one, but some fake trees atleast on the pictures look very beautiful so maybe those are not that bad. I love the feel from your small tree, big cheer indeed. But I could not even think of getting a tree (fake or real) this early, it’s just not a habit here. Maybe after two weeks…

I totally have a little fake tree too, but it totally does the job of bringing in the holiday spirit!

I love your little tree and am thinking about getting a real tree but I really want a little white tree for a change. I am in a tiny cottage, so I don’t want anything overwhelming. Happy Christmas! ;-)) Thanks for stopping by to ‘see me’ at my blog!!

So cute! We put our tree up this weekend too, and I’m feeling really festive now. I was tempted to buy a mini tree from our local Typo store – you can get different colours, and the hot pink one was calling my name! The also sell tiny baubles to fit 🙂 x

Fake mini xmas trees are adorable. We have a mini fake tree this year, as we did last year. It’s the perfect size for our kids to help put up ornaments. I do miss the smell of a real xmas tree, but I don’t miss cleaning up the needles that fall on the floor. I consider any xmas decoration, whether real or fake, shows the holiday spirit. Happy Holidays!

Your little tree looks so cute! For the last few years I have been afraid that any tree I get will just be toppled, but the real ones do smell so good!

Your mini tree is so cute! We haven’t set up any decorations yet because we wanted to wait until there won’t be any mess with the bathroom renovations any more. Hopefully next weekend we can get our tree. My parents always had a real tree and when I was little even real candles, until my aunt set the tree on fire one year. Luckily nothing major happened and all the presents underneath survived as well 😉

OMG Nina- I’m surprised this didn’t leave you ‘scared for life’ against natural trees!

Well, every year we declare that we’re going to take advantage of the after holiday sales and buy a fake tree. But, we never get around to actually making it happen, so we’re forced to buy a real tree the following year. Hm, maybe this is a sign telling us real trees will forever remain in our future. Though, I have to say, your tree is looking mighty cute in all its mini glory. 😉

Very cute but I think you should take the leap and get that real potted tree!
Since I’ve been married (23 years) we’ve always had a real tree which I would not change but real or not, a tree brings so much of the holiday spirit into our homes!
