This home in the Malibu Hills of California is featured in this month’s issue of House Beautiful. Designers Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe have used color and textile to convey an eclectic home. Each space also has a definitive signature piece- like the large scale mobile in the living room or the spray painted art in the bedroom.

The dining room is my favourite, that bench next to the wall is really superb! I also really like the lamp. They have quirky eye for details, I like that.

Gah, I’d take that outdoor space in a heartbeat right about now. I alos love the marble everywhere in the kitchen (I’m on a real marble kick these days!). I’m not a huge California fan, I like to consider myself a rough-and-tumble East Coaster at heart, but this cold weather is even getting to me. Time for some sun!

This home has got great personality and character. I love all the funky bits the designers added. When you think of Malibu, you think of beach themes or island themes. These designer completely flipped that notion. Love every inch of it.

I’m struck by the splatter painted rug in the living room! What a fun piece underfoot… I love the element of surprise and that rug is very unusual. That settee in the dining room just makes me smile! Another unusual piece. I don’t know if I could live with the spray-painted art though.
