For our second installment of Carved Pumpkin Alternatives, a look at decoupaged pumpkins. Although the technique may be the same on all of these, the sky’s the limit in terms of color and pattern. If you can find it patterned on a sheet of paper, you can use it.
The technique will always be the same here. Find your pattern. Cut out the desired pattern on the paper. Then, once you have figured out the placement, use a matte decoupage glue (i.e. Modge Podge) to stick the cut outs to your pumpkin. Let the paper dry. And finally, spray with water and carefully wipe down.
Using an ever-so-cute wrapping paper, you can give your pumpkin a head-to-toe makeover
With a white backdrop, your pumpkins can be turned into happy and festive ones by adding some confetti made from tissue paper. Alternatively, if your pumpkins are orange, you could do the same technique used here but with stick with white and black dots.
Black and white photocopies of some appropriately themed images (i.e. creepy crawlers), turn this white pumpkin into an elegantly haunting accessory.
And if you are feeling a little more daring, you can skip the paper and try another material such as small flowers or leaves.
