First off, thank you so much for your kind words and understanding on Friday’s post. I put off changing the schedule for a while because it almost felt like admitting a defeat. But, I felt much better after reading your comments.
One of the ‘life events’ that had me reconsider the post schedule here at homestilo, is the fact that we are actually expecting an addition to our very small family of two. Yes, I would definitely say that the blog started to suffer right around the time I could not hold down any food…
But I am feeling better and with a bit more energy these days. So now I am turning my attention to nursery planning. The would be guest room/home office space will now have to be guest room/nursery. As such, I am on the hunt for certain furniture pieces, ie the changing table. I was pretty certain I wanted to go with a dresser. But, now I am wondering if maybe I shouldn’t repurpose our desk…
A dresser would offer much more storage space (our desk has no drawers), but the desk would certainly get the job done.
I would love to hear any tips or suggestions you may have.

Congratulations!
That’s a great change in one’s life and one that is definitely worthwhile ๐
I’m sure you’ll be finding lots of new sources for inspiration and maybe posting will come more easily even if less frequently.
As for the question of dresser vs desk…well, sometimes being practical is not enough and those photos of desks as changing tables look really nice. It seems like they give you more room for being creative ๐
Wishing you and your little family all the best.

OMG!!! CONGRATULATIONS, SANTA!!!! AHHH!! You must be so excited!! What a thrilling time for you guys. Oh wow, this is all so wonderful. I’m so excited and I hope you share lots and lots about the journey (as it relates to sprucing up and nesting, of course ๐ with us. I might be crazy, but I definitely bought our guest-room dresser with the full intention of one day popping a changing pad on top of it. It’s an IKEA Hemnes 8 drawer in gray-brown, so gender-neutral ๐ I’m looking forward to seeing what you choose!
CONGRATS again you two!! xoxo

ohh horray! I was sick when expecting my kids, feel better soon and take care of yourself! I love the repurposed desk idea. I really only used a changing table for a year then I changed the kids wherever. So a desk or dresser makes more sense to me ๐

Congratulations to all of you!! I did think of this possibility when you said that nothing bad is coming ๐ How far are you?
Really exciting. I would love to read more about the nursery.

Oh my goodness!!!! Congrats to you! How very exciting, it will be even more exciting after you can hold a bit more food down. Through my three babies i never used a changing table, i was too lazy to get up every 20 minutes, especially with my twins ๐ So i think the desk is a great idea because if you find yourself using it, you have it. But if you don’t you won’t have invested a ton of money into a specific piece of baby furniture and you can use it for other things too. Love how they used the desks in these images. xoxo!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! That’s very good news. Hopefully the sickness will end soon.
I think the dresser/desk with a changing pad on top is a great idea. Most people I know don’t use a changing table often enough to make it worth the space and money it requires.

Oh my gosh!! Congratulations! well that’s a great change of life indeed, how exciting for both of you! How about a nice Parsons table for the changing station? Nice and chic!! Keep us posted!! Thanks as always for your comments on my blog – I appreciate your input!! ๐ xo

I am SO feeling the love here today (I don’t know why I was so nervous about sharing with you)! Thank you all for the well wishes. PS- I am 6 months along- so the puking has subsided ๐

Congratulations! The desk turned changing table is a great idea, the desk could be used later by the child once it is a little older. The second image is adorable, with the little curtain in the middle. Can’t wait to see what you will decide to use for a changing table…

Wohoo, that’s fantastic news, Congrats Santa ๐ I did wonder. You’re going to have fun with the nursery. A chest of drawers with the change mat on top is super handy, but I’m sure whatever you choose will be great. x

Oh my! Congratulations! This is so very exciting! I cannot wait to see the finished product of your nursery. From the looks of this inspiration, it’s going to be cute.

Wooooohoooo Santa! Congrats to you and your husband, this is fantastic news – I can certainly see why blogging needs to take a bit of a back seat! I can’t give you any advice on changing tables because alas, I am childless (for now) but I can’t wait to read about your journey and of course, the nesting! Let us know what you decide?

Congratulations, Santa!! I’m so happy and excited for you. Also happy to read that the sickness has subsided. Ugh, that part was never fun. I know what you mean when you mention “admitting defeat.” I felt the same way when I went to an abridged posting schedule. However, once you’ve made the decision and realize it’s the best one for your sanity, I’m sure you felt a weight lift. Well, I love the idea of repurposing a desk for the changing table. I also have friends that simply used the top of (hip height) dressers, and they used the top drawer to store diapers and wipes and such. I cannot wait to see what other wonderful ideas you no doubt have in store for the nursery. Eee, congratulations again, Santa!!
homestilo says
Thanks Theresa! And you’re right, I do feel a weight has been lifted (always a good feeling right?)

Congratulations! What great news!!!! I agree with those above – I never used a changing table. The desk idea is very cute – I think it just depends on how much storage you are going to need.
homestilo says
Thank you Cyndi. I am definitely getting the feeling that storage must abound when it comes to the little ones…

Wow, congratulations Santa! I used a dresser with a changing pad for all my 3 kids and after I no longer needed it, I repainted it and used in my living room as an entry piece.
