You ever book a hotel room based on the website image, only to get there and find out the room is nothing like what you expected (and not in a good way)? I had a similar experience last weekend at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in NYC. Everything on their website indicated that the Cherry Blossom festival would be in full swing. But, once we got there, it seemed the Cherry Blossoms hadn’t quite gotten the memo.
Still, it was fairly pleasant and we did get to see other attractions which included…
A Japanese Garden
A most impressive display of tulips (who knew there was such a variety?!)
A trip through the conservatory. And there is nothing like a walk through steam with tropical plant life all around to make you feel like you have been transported to warmer climates!
So there you have it. I may try my luck again next year and see if I can’t catch the Cherry Blossoms in full swing.

Cherry blossoms are my favorite thing about spring, I’m so sorry you didn’t get to see them in all of their resplendent glory! One day I’d like to take the trip down to DC for the festival there. If the pictures are accurate in that case, it’s something out of this world. Good for you for still making the most of the visit!

I think nothing has gotten the memo this year. We still have cherry blossoms on our weeping cherry in Virginia, so I can imagine that those in Brooklyn wouldn’t be ready to go yet. They are beautiful when they go, though. For sure. Hoping for better luck for you next year!

The japanese gardens look beautiful but it’s a shame you didn’t get to see the cherry blossoms!

You’ve captured some beautiful pics in spite of those cherry blossoms not cooperating! It looks like you made the most out of the situation…those shots looking up through the trees are to-die-for.

Shame about the cherry blossoms, but those tulips are gorgeous. I do love Spring. x

we have so many cherry blossoms in the spring around my house and somehow they all seem to bloom at different times so we get to enjoy it for a few weeks.
and, yes, i have booked hotel rooms online and gotten there to find something totally different. on two occasions i had terrible experiences. one was in memphis and i will spare you the details ; ) the other was in new york, it did have marble in the bathroom but was the size of a closet . . . and it also had very active rodents, they left that part out in the description.

At least what you did see was beautiful! Maybe they’ll be blooming when I take a trip down in a few weeks. I will not be stopping in Brooklyn though.

Well, despite missing the memo, you managed to capture some beautiful shots! The Japanese garden is breathtaking. Oh, and yes, we’ve booked a hotel based on the gorgeous website photos. The hotel was in Venice and when we arrived we were told they had a plumbing problem and we would have to stay at their sister hotel a couple of miles down the road. When we arrived at the sister hotel, the only room left was a basement room with no windows! Talk about bait and switch! Hopefully, your room didn’t turn out to be a complete disaster. 🙂

We’ve noticed that our cherry blossoms in and around London have been naff this year too, I think it’s because we have had such a long winter – almost like we skipped spring. Thankfully you got to see some other beautiful stuff, that Japanese garden is sublime!

We are planning a similar trip to a local garden center which also has a japanise area and the cherries should be blooming NOW.
Still the charry blossoms look beautiful and the rest looks amazing too. That place seems very big, I’d love to visit there anytime.

You’ll have to put it on your list for the next trip to NYC!
