What better way to kick off the 4th of July/Independence Day week than with an Americana Clam Bake? That’s what we did last Saturday and I thought I’d share some of the images with you today.
Really there are two essential elements. The perfect setting and a menu worthy of stuffing one’s face for hours on end. (Oh, and instructions for those of us less experienced with lobsters didn’t hurt either.)
I think I’ll spend the long weekend recovering from the food coma. What are your plans? Whatever they may be, I hope you’ll enjoy it and I will see you back here on Monday!

I could eat clams by the dozens, but I’ll pass on the lobsters. My brother plopped one down in front of me one 4th of July (we were in Martha’s Vineyard, so lobsters were a necessity apparently) and I just stared at it blankly, without any clue of how to attack it. I don’t like working that much for my food! have a great holiday! xo

Well, I’ll admit, even the printed directions couldn’t help me. I relied on the host to walk me through it. Messy, but well worth it!

lobsters … yum, corn ….yum, clams … double yum, scenery … yum! Thanks for sharing your pics.

I’ve never attempted lobster – but the berry tart looks to-die-for and doable. Corn on the cob… yum. And another confession – I’ve never attended a clam bake! We seem to do more BBQs out west – Maybe we should start a new tradition with our circle of friends!

I’d love to try a lobster one day! I’ve just eaten crayfish, I assume those and lobsters are eaten the same way, but I’m not sure.
What is on top of those corns?
homestilo says
It was elote style Mexican corn Leena. They were first roasted on the grill and then covered in a Mexican corn and chile mixture (yummy!)
