It’s been a while since we had a Spain post so I thought today we could spend some time in Segovia.
This World Heritage city is about a 30 minute (high speed) train ride from Madrid which makes it perfect for a day trip, although, I definitely would not have mind spending a couple of days of exploration in the town.
The Cathedral of Segovia
We started our day at the Segovia Cathedral. It was built in the 16th century and one of the architects to work on it was the same as that of the cathedral of Salamanca. Although it is half the size of the one in Salamanca, it is just as beautiful.
The Alcazar
Then we braved the cold through the old Jewish quarters and headed over to the Alacazar- a favorite palace among earlier monarchs. It was first documented in the early 12th century (but may have been around even before then).
The Aqueduct
We took a walk along the aqueduct which dates back to the Roman era, and ended our visit with some great food and wine at Casa Vicente. The specialty in Segovia is ‘cochinillo’ or piglet. The Mr and I skipped that but his father seemed to rather enjoy it. Oh and some of that amazing wine also ended up all over The Mr as I was talking (yes, with my hands). But, overall, a great day in Segovia!

The scenery in Spain is absolutely gorgeous, I hope to have the chance to visit one day. Segovia looks beautiful! Thomas Pink has a lot of women’s cuff-link blouses, BR sometimes does as well but it’s hit or miss with them.
