The next special edition of Domino is out now. Just as last time, it is a collection of some of the ‘best of’ from the past issues. But where last time the focus was on makeovers and decorating tips, this time there is a look at “best rooms”. Also this time, there is a panel of 13 designers weighing in on all sorts of topics. From coasters to seating arrangements, some of the quotes are quite thoughtful and some just entertaining. Here are a few of my favorite…
On televisions in the room: “How else could you watch Downton Abbey?” –Annie Selke
On the dining area: “When you are about to kick the bucket, you want to look back and remember a slightly-over-the top breakfast nook instead of a beige on beige haze” -Jonathan Adler
On coffee tables: “I like a low coffee table, but you don’t want a shin-buster if you are sitting on a big Puff Daddy sofa” –Katharine Hable Sweeney
On ‘do kid’s rooms need kid’s furniture’: “A chest of drawers from (auction house) William Doyle became the changing table. I just put a sheepskin on top. And my daughter has it in her apartment now” -Sharon Simonaire

I just about died with delight when I saw the white painted herringbone brick fireplace in the 3rd picture! This looks like a brilliant issue!

I missed out on getting the first special edition Domino mag. I went to my local B&N the day it came out and the salesperson said some cow had just snagged up 14 copies just for herself. Probably to sell on ebay. I’ll make more of an effort this time around. I totally plan to use a dresser as a changing table when the time comes. It’s such a simple solution!

Looks fantastic! Can you believe that I’ve never gotten my hands on a copy of Domino Magazine? Crazy, I know…but it’s true!

Classic, I love all those captions! And such great advice for children’s furniture – they grow up so fast, it’s perfect if they can have furniture as a baby that they can still love as a teenager or adult. x

That bunk bed with wrinkly bedding is so tempting. It is 9 am here and I’m in the office so maybe all beds would look tempting 😀

I saw that in Barnes & Noble this past weekend but passed it up for Living Etc. There was a lot of “Domino Classic” in it still. I like the images you have above, especially the bunk beds and dining room.

I forgot to say the LV windows in NY will be bigger and better than the ones I photographed. Have a great time at the exhibit!
