Today, a look at concrete planters found via Etsy. This is the follow up to the post from a couple of weeks ago, where we looked at ceramic planters found via Etsy.
Obviously very durable, these are traditionally used in outdoor planting. On a balcony/terrace, they can be a good option because of their weight. (Those of us with balconies know how pesky the wind can be!) It is also a good insulator, making it a good shock absorber for plants and soil during extreme climate changes.
Indoors, they add a sense of modern industrial to an otherwise very organic subject – plants.
I know that there are so many DIY projects out there for working with concrete and making planters with it. But there are so many ready-made options out there. In all sorts of shapes and sizes. If you can find one that has drainage already, like the ones shown here from hello concrete, great. If not, I always add a layer of stones or packing peanuts to the bottom for drainage.
