Hmm, maybe I shouldn’t have been so quick to complain about the fluries yesterday…Today, it is straight up snowing and it is the sticking kind too.
Bu,t never mind all of that. Rain or shine, I am super excited for this weekend. My best friend and her husband are coming in from Canada for a short visit and I couldn’t be happier or excited (did I mention excited?)
Apartment living means our second bedroom does double duty as guest room and home office at the moment. Unfortunately there is not enough room for a full size bed and night stands. Instead, we have a futon that usually lives in the room as a sofa. In place of a night stand, I have found a small alternative. I’ve reserved a shelf in the bookshelf for a few guest provisions…
Normally I would have a small carafe and glass for water. Since they are a couple, I went with a few bottled waters. What kind of items do you usually set out for your guests??

We give our guests a list of hotels … hahaha, juuuust kidding, well sort of! 😉 So sweet of you to accommodate, I am sure they will appreciate it.

I like the nook area! I want to add a futon to the kid’s toy room. Do you have any futon suggestions?

That is a fantastic idea to provide a guide book! I usually don’t have much anything for the guests, I just put up a small low table where they can collect their own supplies.

I’m sure your friends will be happy to share your house.

Well, I would say giving up your bedroom is really going the extra mile (hmm, may have to come stay with you if I every make it to Portland!)

You’re definitely a better host than we are! Our apartment is tiny, so the few guests we’ve had have just crashed on the couch 🙂
homestilo says
Elle,a cozy couch is sometimes a lot more comforting than an overpriced hotel room!

The night lamp is a good and often overlooked idea. Your guests will feel welcomed!

You are so sweet to set your guests up with little things they might need. I don’t generally have to bother , my guests always seem to help themselves to whatever they want 😉

The bottled water is a very nice touch! Unfortunately, my guests get a blow up bed on the floor on the lounge :/ Tiny flat…what can ya do?

An air mattress is actually a great solution for a small space!

Since we live in the world’s smallest house we don’t often have guests to stay, but when we do we give up our bed and my husband and I sleep on the lounge floor. It’s so small that when he gets out of bed, he is right in the middle of the kitchen and when I get out the other side, I am practically in the garden. I love the bottled water you left out, that is such a nice touch!
homestilo says
I’m sure your guests completely appreciate you giving up your bed though- and THAT is a very nice (and generous) touch.

What a smart use of a small space. For guests, I like to put reading material on the bedside table just in case they can’t sleep at night
