Whenever I see images of amazing home offices, the only piece of exposed tech seems to be a sleek lap top. But where does everything else end up? Where are the wires?? Over the weekend, we finally got a new printer. The last one was sitting in a cabinet and could easily be pulled out when we needed it. But this one is a bit bigger and will need to live on the desk…Unless I take the drill and go to town on the cabinet.
But it has gotten me to thinking about those picturesque home offices …
I found this office on the Better Homes and Gardens website. They seem to have found a way to easily tuck away unsightly wares under the desk.
Where do your office gadgets live?

Our printer lives on top of a pair of filing cabinets in our office and the cords are snaked along the baseboard tucked into an IKEA cord minder – you know those tubes that are slit in the back that allow the cords to be gathered & stuffed into them? Not the best, but it will have to do for now.

Wow, such a pretty office. I’m loving all the bits of dark red (my favorite color). All my office gadgets live on a bookshelf to the left of my desk, which is perpendicular to the desk. It’s a nice little set up and I’ve done my best to hide cords (some still show). I suppose in the very near future everything will {easily} operate via Wifi, eliminating this problem altogether.

Our printer is shoved under the bed – haha! Oh NYC living…

I love that my iMac is almost wire-free. I do need to find a better solution for my printer. It’s so ugly, and my desk is in the living room. So I have it in a cupboard and only pull it out when I need it – not the best solution, but I don’t use it a lot. x

oh, i would love to have a real office. unfortunately i work from home and i don’t have an actual office space (i mean i am happy to work from home but an office would be marvelous!). my printer is on top of my bookshelf/tv cabinet. such an eyesore but i print out shipping labels all the time and i guess the connivence is the trade off. this just might inspire me to come up with something else. so pretty and organized!

I love those desk skirts, too! And I always wonder where the laptop chargers and usb cables go when they’re staged for shoots. On the rare occasion I’ve ever photographed my own desk, I usually just chuck the loose cables and unsightly stuff out of the shot, haha. This is a great inspiration! Hope you had a nice weekend. xoxo

My printer is hiding in my closet and I have everything spread out all over my dining room table – definitely not the blogger home office that you want to take pictures of

It’s a million dollar question if you ask me! We have a printer too that I refuse to be left out so whenever we need to use it, I make my husband haul it out the top of one of our cupboards. This has made me rather unpopular at home. I am longing for the day that I have proper office!

I’ve tried to master this area, but when it comes to my boyfriends electronic stuff I give up. In theory we are now in good shape, since we really rarely use any other equipment besides our laptops and rest of the stuff is in a shelf in the office/guest room/craft room. The cables are somewhat visible, but atleast those are not on the floor. I also invested some years ago to a usb powered external hard drive, I love that I don’t have to plug that to a socket when I use it, and I can just toss it in a drawer when I don’t need it.

I have a wireless desktop + printer which helps minimize cables. I have a pretty bags that holds all my electrical wire chargers (for camera, tablet, nook, usb, etc.), next to my black printer I have COLORFUL pencils/pens in wine glasses + an lemon tree (thus far 1 lemon has been growing for the past YEAR) .. all geared to visually distract from the printer, while paper is on the bottom of the console (w/buddha head on top) = all neat (that’s my trick .. keep it all neat and organized). 🙂

I have two printers, one a huge 11×17 sized printer, and I have no idea where to put them so they move around a lot. At some point I would love to have wifi printers so I can tuck them away somewhere.
