Hello there lovelies. I’m leaving you this week with a super-quick holiday diy and the story behind it.
Last week I took Little One on an outing through the city. There is no doubt that everyone is in full-on Holiday mode.
We stopped to look at the ice skaters at Rockerfeller Center and found ourselves beneath the behemoth Christmas tree. There was scaffolding all round it and workers were hard at work trimming it to it’s final size/shape. Although there were railings with police officers (or were they security guards) behind it, passerby’s were grabbing twigs and sprigs laying on the ground that had been cut from the tree. On our way from the area, one of the guards called me over. I braced myself for a “…you have to put that twig back ma’am” But, instead, she held out her hand and gave me a pine cone from the tree. “For the baby”, she said. Maybe I don’t get out enough, but this made me feel so special- like I was holding something of real historical value in my hands.
So, I decided to display my trophies in a quick and simple presentation…
Tools/Materials
- tin can
- craft paper
- scissors
- tape
- string
- tissue
- cut paper to size | 1a tape one end of the paper to the tin to hold it in place (the other end will overlap so the tape won’t be visible)
- there was some store branding that I opted to paint out (I love you Trader Joe’s but…no.)
- add tissue (or whatever you have on hand) to build a base/prop up sprigs
- wrap string around paper
How about you? Have you caught the holiday bug yet?

Thanks Rooth, I don’t always share personal stories, but I found it touching too. Happy weekend to you!
