Hello and Happy Friday!
Finishing off our Earth Day Week with some additional motivation for the Spring Cleaning overhaul we all seem to be currently involved in. This time with a look at a few ideas on refurbishing some of that old furniture.
I recently came across this story in the April issue of Heart and Home magazine and had to share. It was a feature about Jay + Jade Blades, and their charitable organization “Out of the Dark”. In it, the Blades’ put their professional backgrounds in building, carpentry, interior and textile design to good use. They train, educate and employ otherwise underprivileged youths with said skills. The result is refurbished furniture that is quite in line with with how Jade describes her own style “..eclectic, vibrant, a nod to the future with a glimpse of the past”.
Have a look at some of the fun and colorful pieces in their home in High Wycombe, UK.

What an inspirational organisation (I would LOVE to get involved in something like this). I also really adore the way they have used colour so boldly. Those chairs are fantastic!

What a noble cause, because often underprivileged kids fall through the cracks. School is expected to be enough of a solution, and it rarely is on its own, especially when there is no parental support at home. This is such a great idea. Bravo to this couple! xo

Well said Erin. Noble is the right word for it.

Great color in those pieces… Feels to me like it represents the hope they inspire in those kids. Really cool.
