In honor of the magnificent Adam “MCA” Yauch, I decided today’s at home should take us to the BK (or, Brooklyn if you will).
When the owners found this home, they knew it was perfect and had everything they wanted: close proximity to Manhattan, outdoor area for the kiddies and, of course, more space.
The 1850’s brownstone hadn’t been renovated in about 40 years. But, when your father is renowned architect Barton Myers, what’s a little major renovation?
Many of the home’s pieces have been flea finds. Like the tripod lamp above which sits in the den. It was found at the Paris flea market.

I like the kitchen – there is something very right about the proportions here.

I’m loving the blue of that kitchen cabinetry. How lovely! I can only hope that I’ll be gutsy enough to do coloured cabinets someday.

I think I love everything about this house! That wall in the first photo is an awesome design. Some of my best finds are from flea markets or garage sales.

Head over heels for it! I have a thing about getting the perfect natural light and this place has it in spades! Oh, and I want to live in that kitchen!

RIP MCA!
I love Brownstones in general. They did a great job of modernizing it without stripping away the nice details like the fireplaces.
