The article in Dwell magazine describes the owner of this home as “…a Vespa riding dentist.” But Dr. Kenneth Montague, is also an art lover who collects, curates and collaborates in the art world. When the time came to build a home, it needed to be done in a way that would allow it to do double duty as a gallery space.
Working with architect David Anand Peterson, they took the unconventional route of placing the private rooms on the lower floor and the public (living, kitchen, etc) on the upper. This would make it easier easier for soirees to spill upwards onto the roof deck and garden- which also includes an outdoor kitchen and a sauna. So, who’s in?

That bookcase looks fabulous! Love the salt and pepper shaker collection but I needed a couple of minutes to figure what those little figurines are 😉 The bathroom looks pretty sleek too!

Duh! My brain doesn’t seem to function properly today. I noticed the Salt n Pepa album but didn’t make that connection.

I think I saw this in Dwell and really liked the pieces that he picked up from all over. Did he also have a child friendly space?
homestilo says
Well, not so much kid friendly as party friendly. BUT, the home office does have a murphy bed that helps the room double as a guest room where friends and family can easily crash.(image #3)

Well, this homeowner had me at Salt & Pepa on the bookshelf. 😉 His actual salt & pepper shaker collection is quite nice, too. As someone who loves modern design, I can definitely appreciate this home and all of its details.

How fabulous! I love the first picture, and the bathroom – I want a round mirror in our bathroom. x

I have a totally justified, yet slightly irrational fear of dentists so it’s good for me to see ‘their natural habitat’ so to speak. I am loving that gorgeous kitchen – especially those bar stools!
