Hello there. Hope you all enjoyed a lovely and long weekend (and for those of you not in The States, I hope your weekend felt longer than the two days allotted.)
In case you hadn’t noticed, I have a particular penchant for posting about apartment living and small spaces. Maybe because I can relate more to such spaces. Maybe because I feel like designing those spaces calls for a different kind of creativity. One that involves getting all of your spatial needs met Today, a look at the home of Gordon Guillaumier, a product designer based out of Milan. 850 sq f/79 sq m. Beyond the basics (bed and bath) he also manages to house a living area suitable for entertaining, a library (pictured above) and galley kitchen with an eating nook.

I’m so with you, girl. Smaller spaces are SO much more fun to design and decorate, because you have to be a lot more thoughtful about each and every thing that comes in to the space. 850ft2 still feels sort of palatial! My mom’s house is 900, and my dad’s apartment was under 450! Our current house is double this apartment in Milan, and I could do with getting rid of 800 or so ft2 we never use. My apartment in Paris? Maybe 350-400ft2. Perfect! 🙂 xo

I’ve always had a penchant for small living and seeing how people squeeze it all in – I like the bookshelves along the hallways. Perfect efficient use of space

I love small spaces and apartment living too. I miss our apartment and condo life, and I love seeing all the beautiful spaces you post here. Our current house is so lovely, but way, way too big for us. We’re looking to downsize, and I can’t wait for the joy and challenge that will bring.

I love that you feature small spaces cause I feel like I can relate and it’s fun to see how people make the most of their living space. The creative storage solutions also always inspire me 🙂

i concur. and it’s likely because i live in a space that is one the smaller side. i also agree with what erin said, your choices have to be more thoughtful, and when done so it really creates an overall feeling of being designed. ever a work in progress around here!
