Today, a look at a Hoboken brownstone that has been remodeled top to bottom.
When these homeowners purchased this home in 2014, it was a two family home and not much of the original architectural details had survived on the inside. So, when converting it back into a single family home, they moved ahead with designs for their personal preference- modernist style.
The owner’s modern design aesthetic is apparent from the onset. Outside, a large floating planter greets visitors and gives sleek curb appeal. AnĀ Eames Hang It All rack in white seems to do double duty in the vestibule as sculptural art and coat rack.
A sitting room on the second level houses a Womb chair and loveseat. (But, pssst, it’s the bar on the left that I’m looking at).
AĀ robot themed wall decal adds a pop of color in the shared kid’s room.Ā The bed frame and lighting lend an industrial feel to the space as well.Ā
TheĀ long kitchen island is made of a solid piece of maple and ends with one of two sinks. It also includes custom wood work and a steam oven. The uncluttered countertops definitely give me hope for my own kitchen!

I’m such a sucker for BIG kitchen islands – the wood surface is a bonus (that I’d be afraid of scratching up)

Well, how easily a wood counter top scratches depends on the wood used. (and truth be told, hard maple does not always fare well in the scratch department)
