It has been a looong two weeks my dear readers. I mean, when was the last time you sat and cleaned out the desktop on your computer or purged (unwillingly so) your freezer of all of its contents or dusted your childhood bedroom? #thankshurricanesandy
But now it’s time to pick up the pieces and move forward. As you know, we were lucky enough to only lose power as a result of the storm. But so many folks out there lost so much more.
There are many ways to help victims of the hurricane. But really, what better way than shopping? There are quite a few retailers out there doing what they can. Namely, donating a portion of their profits to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
Here are a few I’ve come across that I found interesting and thought you might also, if you haven’t seen them already. Cookies for comfort, anyone?
1 ribbon & print $25 | through 11/15/12 dormify will donate 100 sets of sheets either to covenant house or an individual in need of your choice for the first 100 orders
2 hurricane sandy relief kitchen towel $20 | 100% of sales of these wedding chick towels will be donated to red cross (also available, a tote bag)
3 peanut butter sandy cookies $10/25 cookies | via chrysty’s creations, 25 sandy cookies for yourself also buys 25 cookies for a victim of hurricane sandy in the upper states of pennsylvania, new jersey, and new york; also a $1 donation to the american red cross in your name with a confirmation e-mail sent to you
4 hurricane sandy relief t-shirts $40 | designed by sebastian errazuriz and available via grey area 100% of sales donated to hurricane sandy relief efforts

We’ve been thinking of you all over there. Must have been such a scary time and now the aftermath too. Great tip on the shopping for aid! Have a great weekend.

Those dip-dyed shirts are great, and I love that all the proceeds go to help disaster victims! I can’t begin to imagine how much clean up and recovery has to happen on such a large scale (and small, down to individual people) for life to get back to normal. I donated at Walgreens yesterday to the Red Cross at checkout. Wish I could go help clean up the neighborhoods!

Well, if you decide to take on an on-site volunteer post, you always have a place to crash here (with heat and hot water!)

Dusted your childhood bedroom? Lol! I’m always amazed at how quickly people rally together to help each other. I have been seeing Hurricane Sandy bake sale adverts everywhere!

The storm inevitably led us to having to crash at my parent’s…in my old bedroom! Oh the joy.

Those cookies look delicious and I feel so bad for those who had to evaluate a second time due to the snow!

It’s so great that these retailers are pitching in to help with the Sandy relief efforts. You’ve rounded up some great products. I just purchased a 2013 calendar from Whimsy and Spice to do my small part. Hope things are starting to get back to “normal” for you.
