Not all kid spaces have to resemble a pre-school classroom. In fact, many adult design choices work well with children’s rooms. One of these is the gallery wall. A collection of fun prints and children’s own art work can be a delightful way to personalize a child’s space.
My own gallery wall for our little one is a work in progress. Currently among items displayed, is a caricature we got at a birthday party we once went to as well as the number three (as in his age) which he made in pre-k class.
Because of the soft color palette used, this grouping could work with little girls as well as older ones.
Unlike the previous image, this wall opts for stronger color. But it is kept light in terms of themes such as critters and rain drops. An Eames Hang It All wall rack is a nice addition. It makes clothing and accessories part of the wall art.
Above and below, the wall is personalized with the children’s own art work. In the top image, the art work serves as inspiration for the rest of the colors in the decor. The gallery wall below, even includes models and cub scout projects done by the child.

A gallery wall is such a wonderful way to personalize a child’s living space what’s also nice is that it can grow along with the child. I’m sure both you and your son will have fun adding to his as he gets older.
Pen eyeliner isn’t as intimidating as it seems. The two piece kind with the screw off brusher is definitely more difficult to master. I would suggest practice with a q-tip handy to quickly correct and it also helps to pull the corner of your eye taut to ensure a smoother line. Hope this helps 🙂
