Hello Lovelies and Happy Friday! Today I have for you a guest post from Susi of Arcadia Lighting. Great ideas on the use and placement of that great accent piece, the floor mirror. Enjoy!
Hi, I’m Susi from Arcadian Lighting, a blog for lighting and design project inspiration. I love being asked to visit cool design blogs like homestilo and writing about things I love. For Mirror, Mirror…on the Floor I’ve pulled six great pics of floor mirrors in all sorts of spaces to show how versatile a floor mirror can be. We have one in an unusable corner in our living room. It adds light and life to an otherwise blah corner. Light fixtures of all kinds look beautiful when their light is reflected in these massive mirrors. One word about propping up a floor mirror. If it is a heavy mirror or you have small kids running around, you may want to attach the mirror to the wall with a brace or a hook to keep it from falling over. Hope you in enjoy! ~ Susi
A floor mirror can expand the look and feel of a space. Use a contemporary mirror in a traditional space or vice versa for a cool, eclectic look.
Floor mirrors can act as works of art in a room. Look for sculptural frames, like these wood mirrors. Driftwood would also make an amazing frame for a large floor mirror.
An antique giltwood mirror in a contemporary space adds an element of glamour and romance. These tall mirrors are often called pier mirrors and traditionally hung above a pier table in a large foyer. Imagine how stunning this one will look with that amazing floor lamp at night.
Floor mirrors are perfect for filling an awkward corner or nook. The mirror can reflect natural light as well as ambient light at night to create a pretty corner or nook.
Rustic meets modern is another design trend we’re loving right now. This modern dining room gets a nice rustic accent in the floor mirror with a reclaimed wood frame.
This floor mirror helps expand the sense of space in this small dining area and enhances the lovely hanging light fixture over the table. Choosing a mirror color that is similar to wall and/or curtains helps the frame blend with the other elements in the room. If you want a bigger impact, paint the mirror a color that contrasts with other colors in your room.
Thinking about implementing a floor mirror into your home? Get creative and try accenting it with a light fixture from Arcadian Lighting.

I love that antic mirror! I love to use mirrors as accent pieces but in our culture it is not considered the best fung shui piece to use 🙁
