Ahh decisions, decisions. I have finally started working on our home office- which also doubles as a guest room. Since moving in, the desk, which is rather large, was sitting in front of windows.Β But, as much as The Mr aka My Client loved this, it led to a layout in the room which was not very efficient. In the new layout, the desk is moving to a corner and, much to The Mr’s chagrin, it will be facing a wall.
But I’m up for the challenge of proving to him that the new placement will improve the layout and that it can be just as inspirational.Β And I am referring to some of the images I have collected in my Pinterest home office board to do this.

Gah, I love beautifully styled office spaces. They’re so inspiring! Mostly I just work on my laptop on the couch with a giant bag of m&ms next to me and Midnight in Paris on tv. So you know, all the things that generally inspire me π

We live in a shoebox so both of our desks face the wall and I canβt say that it bothers me all that much β I totally agree with your inspiration pics though, if you are facing the wall, you definitely need something awesome to look at. The last pic is my favourite!

Happy Monday Santa! How exciting that you r decorating you home office. GREAT inspirational photo finds .. hey u may want to also explore pulling the desk away from the wall to place chair on that side so your back is towards the wall and you get to enjoy the beauty of your home decorated office.

Great inspirational pictures! Love the bulletin board on the third photos. I need something like that in my “office”. Another project for my list π My desk is also facing a wall but any other placement didn’t make any sense in our space but I don’t mind it so much, I feel like I do not get distracted as much because there is not so much to look at π
Have a happy Monday!

Someday when I upgrade to a 2 bdrm condo, I hope to turn the 2nd bdrm into my office. This is a great set of photos for inspiration, I especially love the leaning tower to hold the frames.

Thanks all. I really tried every possible layout and this is the best. If The Mr even thinks about putting up a fight, I will direct him to your comments!

I could definitely work at these desks. I’ll admit that it’s nicer to be facing the room or out the window but if the rest of the room doesn’t work then the wall {and something nice to look at} is it!

I love a good home office. And you can definitely make it work having the desk facing a wall. Mine does, but I have a large window overlooking our botanical gardens just to my right. I’m sure The Mr will come around. x

My desk faces a window, thank goodness, even though it sits in the corner. Or else I would go mad

I love the second and third photo, the two last ones look too messy to me. I am now moving my desk in front of the window, but it should fit in our floor plan well. Inspiring wall could even sometimes be better than the window. At least in Finland in the wintertime there is really nothing but pitch black to look at from the window.

My office is also the guest room – and my desk faces the wall – so I have wrestled with this problem a lot, and still experimenting with placement. I’m glad to know others have the same problem. I find myself, like Erin, doing a lot of work with my laptop in a comfy chair.
