Hello and Happy Monday (isn’t it always a Happy Monday when it ends in a holiday?)
I am not hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year (thank goodness for small favors), but it doesn’t mean that I am not thinking of ideas that would make hosting easier for those of you who may be.
We happen to have a very small table. Sure, it seats six. But I dare you to try to squeeze any extras on to that table after plates and serving dishes.
Here are a few ideas for the dinner table that will help you add interest while not taking up valuable real estate.
Votives in general are a great way to add ambiance and save space on the table. One or two could do the trick, and you can even go unconventional with the holder by using something you may already have at home, like an apple.
Drinking vessels make lovely flower holders and can blend right in with your existing dinnerware, allowing flowers to take center stage in a small space.
Going up rather than out is always a smart use of limited space. This is also true of the dinner table. Use different heights of candlestick holders to add layers to your table scape.
If you are absolutely positively tight on space, use a table runner to bring in the element of colour or, in this case, texture. (psst, this one’s a diy project!)

The apple votives are so smart! And I like the use of vertical space with those tall tapered candles, it really would create the illusion of there being more space on the table. Plus, candlelight always adds ambiance.

These are really good tips – I’m pulling in some tall vases (for flowers) so as not to take up valuable food real estate
