I haven’t tried my hand at terrariums yet, but West Elm continues to create some pretty tempting container options with a large range of styles and sizes. Here’s a look at their current selections.
…and a terrarium tip: Keep the ground beneath the soil fresh by starting off with a 1″ layer of small stones and adding a thin layer of carbon charcoal above that.

Sigh. Terrariums. I think they are so beautiful and generally idiot-proof; not even my black thumb could kill one, right? West Elm really does them so perfectly.

West Elm always has them done so prettily but I would definitely KILL the greenery – without a doubt. For now, I’ll just be admiring from afar

These are just lovely! I sure wouldn’t mind adding a small terrarium to my home.
I think NYC got off lucky with the snow this time around. It’s pretty clear downtown already.

I remember the terrariums of yesteryear, the ones made out of water cooler glass bottles – I had one way back then and couldn’t get it climatized. The new versions are so attractive with their unusual glass containers, I just might have to try again.

The water cooler bottle sounds like it would have made for a massive and fabulous terrarium setting!

Those glass containers are looking fab and I love the look of the terrariums but with my luck or my brown thumb I’ll kill the plants in no time.

I’ve never made a terrarium either, but they look pretty awesome. And I love West Elm, how I wish we had one in NZ. x

I have made a few and they are still going strong & I am terrible with plants. It works for me because I think they are just so pretty.

Wow, I love those oddly shaped bubbling terrariums with wire running across them. Really cool. My own terrarium is not maybe doing too good. I think it’s in too hot place (over the radiator). Also I think I’ve sometimes overwatered it.
