Hello and Happy Friday!
After a super quiet birthday a few weeks ago, I think it’s time to start thinking big for next year. There should definitely be travel involved. Travel in style. I love this image of a sleeping cart on the Venice Simplon Orient Express. Itineraries include routes such as Venice-Budapest and Prague-London.
Sure, it’s not the roomiest of quarters. But it seems to read luxurious all the same. Are you with me…or have I been watching way too many classic films…

I cannot jump on the “travel by train” bandwagon. I don’t mind it for short distances (3 hours max) but sleeping on one? Showering on one? Gah! I don’t think I could do it! the romance is lost on me. Sorry! 🙁 I’m with you on traveling grand though! xo

Hmm…could we tempt you with copious amounts of champagne and some French macarons, perhaps?
Erin says
Girl, you could lure me anywhere with champagne and macarons! I was watching CBS Sunday Morning yesterday, and this segment totally reminded me of you: http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/pullman-rail-cars-a-detour-back-through-time/ xo

Oh how wonderful- thanks so much for sharing Erin. I mean, my ears perked right up at “…limited service to New York”

Train travel is so utterly romantic to me. Probably the epitome of it all. I may or may not marry the first man who takes me on a “real” train ride 🙂
homestilo says
Agreed, it doesn’t seem to get more romantic in the travel department.

Erin you don’t know what you are missing! There is NOTHING better than going to sleep to the train slowly rocking you to sleep. Yeah, it’s a little cramped and showering can be difficult (I particularly don’t like going to the toilet and then seeing it go out the bottom of the train) but it’s once in a lifetime kind of stuff. Australia has some EPIC train journeys that I can’t wait to try… once I get those $$ together.
homestilo says
Oh I can’t wait to hear all about your Australian train travel Meghan!

This is one of my dreams, actually. Train travel (across the US, maybe) in general, and the Orient Express specifically. My family watched Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express and one of the bonus tracks was a behind the scenes peek into the trip. And now I really want to do it. 🙂
homestilo says
Lauren, I see you totally get it.

Oh, that looks so dreamy. We’re hoping for a lot more travel this year too.
