When I did my Accessorizing with James Bond post a couple of weeks ago, Catarina asked if I could do the same kind of post for other films/programs such as Downton Abbey. I was more than happy to oblige.
In my love of films and television, Downton Abbey has a very high ranking. I have always been a fan of period epics and this one does not disappoint. There is something ever so romantic about the way they present early 20th century life in England (even through wars and flu epidemics). And any piece of entertainment that can provide a story and a detailed set, has my vote all day long.
And if you have any other requests, by all means…
santa barbara armchair | pier 1 imports $120

I have not been following Downtown Abbey, just seen parts of few episodes. But it does seem like an excellent drama.
The style of the sets is far from how I like to decorate, but I like the items you’ve chosen to represent the style. I love the kitchen, everything is so functional.

I am always way behind on current trends and I haven’t jumped on Downton Abbey yet. Need to get on that stat! After we visited the Breakers in Newport, RI this weekend, I wanted to watch it even more. And I love this blog series! Great idea. Need to check out the James Bond…and I think my salt pig might be one of my favorite things in my kitchen!

I have never seen Downtown Abbey but I love period films. Not only do I love the style of the interiors but the clothes as well. Your idea seems to be becoming a fun series!

Oh, I could do this all day everyday 😉

I think I am the only person I know that hates Downton Abbey (nothing ever happens) but even I can’t resist the scenery! I just like to leave it on in the background on a Sunday afternoon with the sound turned down! Love your picks, particularly the outdoor goodies!

Ha! We both posted about Downton today, I finally caught up to the rest of the world and watched the whole first season in 2 days. I’m a sucker for period pieces and British aristocracy and early 20th century scenery 🙂 Love all of these, especially the glamorous shot of Sybil in her pants!

Awww 🙂 tahnk you! Great post. I love the kitchen accessories. Don’t know why but the “downstairs” always has a bigger effect on me, and that salt pig is to die for.

I feel so out of it cause I’ve never even watched an episode of Downton Abbey. That meat grinder looks cool. I wonder how well it actually works.

It’s funny because I actually don’t generally like shows with “corsets and accents” but I actually do own a salt pig and approve of a show that has one in it. Mine is blue and British 🙂

I’ve never watched Downtown Abbey, despite the hype (I’ve got friends who love it). But you’ve inspired me to check it out. The other programme a friend of mine raves about is Mad Men (again I haven’t seen it). She loves it for the cool 1960’s set, clothes etc. x
homestilo says
Oh that is another show I would highly recommend (and possibly next on my list in this series!)

I do think this tv/film to interiors idea could be a regular series here as you’re quite good. Sadly, I haven’t caught the Downtown Abbey bug yet. From you, Erin, and every other living person, it seems I may be missing out on a very good thing. I did manage to see the new James Bond movie, Skyfall. It was entertaining. 😉

I found it entertaining as well. The Mr, not so much- think he slept through most of it…
