Holidays such as Halloween and Thanksgiving have been gaining ground in countries outside of the US. And recently, one of my international readers-Aura of Capture Rebel, was telling me how she is planning to host a Friendsgiving this year. She wanted to know, more specifically, how she might be able to make hers more of a ‘glam’ affair.
Because Thanksgiving revolves around an elaborate meal, the main attraction at any Thanksgiving celebration is naturally the table. So with attention to just a few details, it fairly easy to convey whatever mood you are trying to set.
Color Scheme
By adding color with something as simple as table linens, you can achieve a cohesive and elegant feel at the table. And pssst- adding brass/gold tones always amps up the glam factor. Always.
Place Cards
Place cards are particularly practical (try saying that 5 times quickly!) for making sure that everyone is sitting right where you want them. But they also add a touch of formality. These can also be done in all sorts of creative ways. From card stock to items found outside such as leaves or river stones. All can be used to creatively place your guests.
Lighting
All that glitters. Adding candles to your table will make the entire affair much more intimate.
Centerpieces
Use a centerpiece to channel the spirit of Autumn (hint, this doesn’t automatically mean orange and brown). Note: no one will mind if you keep your centerpiece small – after all, all of that food has to go somewhere! If tight on space, you can still showcase the table with dispersed items such as gourds or even flower buds.
Finally, add lots of wine and enjoy!

I always end up having to move the centerpieces because FOOD so I’m definitely keeping it small this year

Then perhaps some options for you could be a season themed tablecloth and/or some small votive candles.
