During our travels in Turkey, the most unique of our stays was in Serinn House located in the Cappadocia region. This historical area is known mostly for it’s rock formations and cave dwellings of the past. The original bones of Serinn House were once such dwellings.
Owner Eren Serpen confesses she didn’t exactly have a clear vision of what the end result would be. But, she trusted in architect and friend, Rıfat Ergör. Needless to say, her trust was well placed. Ergör did an incredible job with the transformation of the site, inside and out. The new stonework keeps the integrity of the original structure. The furnishings and accessories are simple and modern, which create a great contrast within the cave setting.
Furthermore, the rooms are all above ground so you get the excitement and benefit (nice cool room on a super hot day) of staying in a cave, without feeling like you are completely enclosed. Although, it did take The Mr a moment to adjust to the space on our first night.
There are only 5 rooms which means Eren and her dedicated staff provide a wonderfully personalized service (and who doesn’t want to be offered a cup of apple tea with biscuits after a long day of site seeing??)

How amazing. It’s fantastic that they’ve been able to bring something old back to life, being sensitive to it’s surroundings and origins. x
