End of the Week & An Award

Lovelies it has been a loooong week. Much of which was spent with no power.  Lights finally came back on two days ago and went out again a little while ago (for about an hour).  So I am typing the fastest I’ve ever typed to get this post done!

 

During the past two days, I have tried to catch up on what I’ve been missing at some of my daily reads.   I came online to find that I had won a giveaway held by Carmen Vogue! Also, I had been awarded a Versatile Blogger Award by, not one, but TWO of my favorite daily reads:  Cush&Nooks and  Wishful Thinking.  I try not to go a day without reading these lovely blogs (you know, unless there is an occasional week-long power outage.)

As part of the honor, I am supposed to share 7 things about myself…

1.  My first name is Santa which means saint in Spanish. But, my middle name is Jacqueline, after Jacqueline Onassis (true story).

 

2.  My family is originally from the Dominican Republic, an island in the Caribbean and thus, I also speak Spanish.

 

3.  I am a night owl.  Sun goes down, I get a second wind.

 

4.  I never met a piece of chocolate, cookie, cake, pie (…well, you get where I’m going with this), that I didn’t like.

 

5.  When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a flight attendant.

 

6.  Friday is absolutely positively my favorite day of the week. I am usually in the best mood on a Friday- and it’s been this way for as long as I can remember.

 

7.  I leave number seven open for you. If there is anything else you may want to know, feel free to ask!

    • The short answer would be: design and friends! I wanted to be able share design ideas with a community but also create a place where readers feel like they could ask their “designer friend” for advice.

    I’m very flattered my dear blog friend…you certainly are a daily inspiration to me and it feels great to learn that you find my blog inspirational too.
    BTW I wanted to be a flight attendant too when I finished school but my dad didn’t let me!

  10. Congrats! Very well deserved! I was so hoping you would do the ‘7 things’ list because I was the most curious about you (even though Homestilo is a daily read, I never knew your first name)! I’ve got a question: you often blog about things from South Africa (which makes my day), have you ever been? If not, do you want to visit?

    • Meghan, we were in South Africa last year for World Cup. It was, without a doubt, the best holiday ever. The landscape, the people- all of it just beautiful. I have a very soft spot in my heart for SA and love featuring some of the amazing design coming out of it!

So great to read more about you – it’s such a fun award, and I can’t wait to visit those 10 inspirational blogs (although I’ve just discovered ‘Feather Factor’ and loving it).
