The search for a would be dresser turned changing table I mentioned earlier in the week, led me to a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
I have to say, I was originally expecting lots of lumber and construction materials that wouldn’t be of much use to me. But, after spending some time on their Face Book page, I learned that they had quite a bit in the furniture department.
Upon arriving at the store, I was not disappointed. There was a warehouse stocked with some great furniture pieces. I was particularly impressed with their mid century modern gems.
Of course, they have goodies from other eras as well…
Some of the items have a flat price, while others have a timed price tag (shown above), where the item gets lower in price the longer it sits in the store.
And as if the prices don’t make it guilt-less enough, all proceeds from the ReStore are used toward the Habitat for Humanity mission to end substandard housing worldwide.

Good stuff! I did a PR project with Habitat a few years back – it was a lot of fun digging through all the stuff they had there.

Wow, I really want that $10 chair….I wish it was May because then I’d be nearby and could get it. 🙁

We could have been vintage metal cabinet twins! That’s a great resource, that store. I don’t think there is one near me, but I’ve been curious about their selection. Glad to know it did not disappoint!

They have some fantastic pieces there and it’s great the proceeds go towards Habitat for Humanity.

I would have snapped that upholstered swivel chair up before anyone could blink! We are seriously lacking in these kinds of stores here in London (which knowing my spending habits, is probably a good thing)!

And would you believe that one was one of about six chairs?! Someone must have thought it a good idea to replace their board room chairs…

I think that $25 chair would look awesome reupholstered in a bright and happy fabric!

oh my! you found amazing things! i need to check and see if we have one of those in portland. i hope we do!! i also love the timed prices, though i would probably end up missing out on everything with my love of getting a good deal 😉 however, their prices seem pretty amazing already.
homestilo says
Christine I think you do have a re-store in your area– let us know if you decide to check it out!

There was also a metal cabinet on Nina’s blog today. I have never seen anything like that and now on the same day I see two. How extraordinary.
The price range does not seem bad at all for any of the items. Cool place, I wish I could visit it.
homestilo says
Leena, it may be a sign: you need a vintage metal cabinet in your life.

What? In Wayne, like 20 minutes from me! Whah! I gotta get there like this coming week! Thanks for sharing this, I thought the closest was in Mine Hill?
Hey, maybe we can even meet up one day and share it on our blogs?
homestilo says
Luci I would totally be up for a meet up!

Wow that’s such an awesome store- not only for their pieces but because of where that money is going! I really love that first chair you posted- the white one that looks like a fancy computer chair. AND the mustard one, too. I feel like I’d have a total feild day there haha!

homestilo says
The store is actually in Wayne, NJ but run by the Paterson (NJ) Habitat for Humanity. We should definitely meet up the next time you are in town.

What a goldmine! Unfortunately our ReHabitat store doesn’t have any furniture – I have a side table very similar to the first one – it’s one of my favorites..would love to have that dresser though. Great finds
Vic says
I would love to be let loose in there. That first chair is just what I’ve been looking for, for a client. I’d recover it something gorgeous. x

I have forgotten about ReStore lately! Absolutely love that metal cabinet and yellow chair. Will have to make another trip there soon, thanks for the reminder.

What a find! The prices also seem very reasonable. We have a pretty popular flea market that happens once a month near us, but the prices can be pretty hefty (or maybe I’m not a skilled negotiator ;). The vintage metal medicine cabinet looks similar to the one that Erin just scored.

Thank you so much for mentioning us and saying such lovely things.

Lucia- the store has gained an instant fan in me!
