Just like last week, today’s trend revolves around lighting.
By now, no doubt you have picked up on the current neon trend. I admit, I have been bitten by the bug and am happily sporting a neon orange scarf with just about everything.
But today’s trend is more of a trend within a trend. I keep noticing lighting fixtures involving exposed bulbs and neon cords. This is a very subtle way to introduce what could otherwise be a shocking jolt of color to a space.
Now, I know there could be possible glare issues (based on your comments from last week’s cage light fixtures). But there are a few solutions to help diffuse the light (and do let me know if you’ve tried any):
- half chrome bulbs – like the one pictured above ($5-$8)
- frosted bulbs ($2-$5)
- go for a bulb with lower wattage

I’ve been fantasizing about those colourful chords for ages. Every time I go to a local home/hardware store I stand there in front of the shelf that have those, but so far I’ve never bought one. I haven’t yet figured where I should place one. One day I will…

Interesting look with the light hanging on a rope.

I have mixed feelings about the neon. I love it for some applications and not so much for others. It’s super fun in small doses like on this light bulb cord!

I really like the look of the silver tipped bulbs but I haven’t yet seen them in action in person.
I’m not fully aboard the neon thing but I did pick up a pair of neon pink toed {with black and white stripes on the rest} socks. I proudly wear them on sock day at the office {this is technically every day but I change things up depending on what is clean, obviously}. A scarf sounds fun too!

…pink toed socks- that’s how it begins!

Well, you know I love these. I’m waiting for some very cool lights to arrive from Spain, to go in the Cush & Nooks store – they are similar to the ones above, but in place of the neon cord, they have a knitted cover, can’t wait! : ) xxx

Oh looking forward to seeing those- your blog was definitely key in featuring this trend.
