Our coffee table is one of many pieces in our home that are from The Mr’s bachelor past. And it gets the job done: holds magazines, stores our board games and even functions as a foot stool for The Mr. But, the frosted glass on the table top doesn’t do much to cover up the stored items (do I really need guests eying my UNO cards??).
An easy fix for this as adhering a decorative piece of paper to the glass.
Steps:
1. using the table top as a straight edge, cut the paper down to size with a precision knife
2. next, spray the top of the paper with a spray mount adhesive
3. place paper on glass (if you let the paper sit for about a minute after spraying, it is easier to move around while trying to place it correctly on the glass)
4. optional: to really secure the paper on to the glass, I placed books and magazines on the glass overnight before placing the glass back on table
The paper can be removed later on using warm soapy water and a soft brush.

This is a great way to transform an “inherited” piece of furniture both inexpensively and easily!

That paper is so pretty, much nicer than the games. I wonder what the person who designed the table thought would happen under there that would be pretty to display. It seems like it’s better used as storage as you have it.
I think having them visible might get people to play though, I can’t get anyone to play Monopoly with me since they all say it takes too long!

Very cool. Our coffee table was an old kitchen table (a small one). Hubby shortened the legs, we had it professionally painted (much better job and doesn’t chip), and added a layer of one of my favourite Designers Guilds wallpaper, topped with glass. I love it! xxx

I love that you chose a print and not just a solid color. This Is a great renovation!

My sister and I were talking about what to do when you move in with your man and they have some well, slightly suspect pieces of furniture. I think you’ve just cracked it with a bit of ‘bachelor hacking!’. Thank you for the tip.

@Vic That sounds gorgeous- will be checking out Cush and Nooks for some images!
@Jeanine I suppose they were thinking pretty sea shells or the like would find their home in the table. As far as playing Monopoly, that was a house warming gift (about 3 years ago, and we have yet to open it (and believe me I’ve tried)
@Niki My first thought was to go with a safer neutral. But then it just felt like “…time to jazz it up a bit…”
