It’s a long weekend here, Memorial Day. However, here is a home that inspires a much longer holiday. This is Hibiscus Hill, home of India Hicks in the Bahamas.
The house sits on three acres of garden land and was built in the 1950’s, but was designed to look as if it had been built in the 1850’s. Hicks, a model turned designer and author (and the daughter of famed interior designer David Hicks), replaced original elements such as tiles, cement and glass, with straw, wood and paper to soften things up. For the decor, she draws on classic British style, Caribbean flair and her well traveled life.
What’s that you say? You’ve packed your bags and are ready to head on down to Hibiscus Hill? Well then, you’re in luck- there are other buildings on the property that are for rent, such as the Guest House below.
